Founded in April of 2011, Reclamation Art + Furniture is an independent boutique manufacturer of bespoke art, furniture and home accessories.  With the application of some creativity, imagination, and skill we focus on smart simple design to produce beautiful handmade objects for your environment. Many of our one of a kind functional art pieces have been created and re-purposed out of 100 year old structural timbers, reclaimed from the historic Globe Mills Building in downtown Sacramento California. Size and shape of the pieces are often dictated by the materials themselves. With simple modern lines, we intentionally leave some elements raw with the material flaws, old paint, holes and innate character left visible. The purpose, is that each piece tells a story, giving clues to its past lives and communicating its own personal history. Some pieces have been dressed with an ancient Japanese technique called "Shou-sugi-ban" meaning; burning Sugi, or Japanese Cypress. This act of tempering the material by fire and coating the wood with oils produces an elegant, natural, richly textured finishes that draws you into the piece. You'll want to touch, talk about and use these objects.

As seasons progress, we will be working in collaboration with a select few local and international artists and guest designers on what we are calling "Functional Fine Art." As our first year and season moves forward, we will offer our inaugural line of limited edition furniture, starting with a few tables, seating and accessories, as well as bespoke site specific pieces for individual clients.

This current series of works, has been developed along with the accompanied artistic talents of Micah Crandall-Bear Studio's. Stay tuned...there is lots more to come! You may follow us on facebook. Please see our contact page if you have any questions or would like to book a new project.
